What is ?

A unique, interactive, multi-participant installation, the CATHARTIC USER INTERFACE 1.0 SYSTEM will allow users to QUICKLY and EFFECTIVELY work through whatever CONFLICTING EMOTIONS they harbor concerning the BENEVOLENT YET PERNICIOUS influences of COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY on their lives.

By pitching MOUSE-SHAPED BALLS at the KEYS of COUNTLESS WALL-MOUNTED COMPUTER KEYBOARDS, CUI participants will be able to trigger a VAST ARRAY of MULTIMEDIA MATERIALS dealing with THE MORE TROUBLINGand PROBLEMATIC ASPECTS of TECHNOLOGY.

NEW MULTIMEDIA MATERIAL

The CUI 1.0 SYSTEM requires a large number of COMPUTER KEYBOARDS. Any kind - any condition!

Is your formerly beloved but now obsolete Mac Plus, Amiga 1000 or 286 PC stashed away in a dark closet or attic gathering DUST? Well, what are you waiting for? Dig out that grimy old KEYBOARD, and contribute it to CUI 1.0 SYSTEM!

The CUI 1.0 SYSTEM needs MULTIMEDIA MATERIAL that deals with any aspect of DIGITAL CONFUSION and TECHNOLOGICAL FRUSTRATION. Contribute your IMAGES, TEXTS, ANIMATIONS and SOUNDS to be a part of the CUI 1.0 SYSTEM. Here's your chance to make your TRUE FEELINGS about DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY available in MULTIMEDIA FORM to a SYMPATHETIC PUBLIC.

Please try to keep file sizes AS SMALL AS POSSIBLE!
Images: GIF or JPEG preferred. Any standard Mac format OK. Try to keep file size under 300K and image size under 640 x 480.
Animations: QuickTime or MPEG preferred. Try to keep file size under 2M and length under 10 seconds.
Audio: QuickTime or AIFF preferred. Try to keep file size under 500K and length under 10 seconds.
Texts: Slogans, aphorisms, and BRIEF manifestoes. Preferred formats are MS Word, SimpleText or Ascii.

Each contributor will be PROMINENTLY CREDITED as a
VALUED ACCOMPLICE of the CUI 1.0 SYSTEM and will be invited as our HONORED GUEST at the CUI 1.0 SYSTEM RECEPTION on
THURSDAY, AUGUST 24, 1995 (6-8 PM).

But that's not all!

Each contributor will also receive their own LIMITED EDITION copy of a HOME USE PERSONAL CUI 1.0 SYSTEM!
