yes. i totally agree with this argument.
and, once the mobile communication has become common in a certain community, it is even taboo not to bring a cell-phone because it is nothing but refusal of communication. this might be some kind of social pressure...
hmm. What about in Finland? This certainly is a mobile-device enabled culture, but isn't it taboo there to take cell phone calls, etc. when physically in a group? I agree with the argument as well, but I think that it sort of places emphasis on the individual rather than a particular group - the idea that an indivdual can exist in one physical group and exist in a remote group at the same time. Present, but absent.
